Merry Seas & Holiday Breezes!

Season’s Greetings!

It’s hard to believe another year has passed, and the big man in the red suit is preparing for his journey!

As we close out 2024, we're excited to share our new website, designed to make finding marine and industrial solutions easier (link below). We're also working on a product knowledge base for PE products, a new Dealer Incentive Program, and marketing materials, including product videos to support Dealers. Boat show planning and Dealer training are underway for next year.

It’s been a tough year for many, but we’re confident that our brands and dealer network will carry us through. Thank you for your continued support. From all of us at Power Equipment, we wish you a joyful holiday season and a prosperous New Year!

New Dealer Appointment: Yacht Help Fiji Joins Yanmar Network!

As Fiji continues to attract record numbers of visiting yachts and launches to its waters, we've expanded our South Pacific support network by welcoming Yacht Help Fiji as our newest authorised Yanmar dealer. With a strong presence across all three of Fiji's premier marinas - Port Denarau, Vuda Marina, and Nawi Island Marina - they're perfectly positioned to support the growing fleet of over 750 foreign vessels that visit annually. At the helm is David Jamieson, a former superyacht skipper who knows exactly what vessel owners and operators need in this part of the world. His team of 41 includes some of Fiji's most experienced mechanical engineers and marine technicians, working from fully equipped workshops across the islands. As Fiji's largest marine services provider, Yacht Help has built a reputation for comprehensive support - from routine maintenance through to complete refits.

"This partnership makes perfect sense for everyone," says Dave Low, our Branch Manager at Power Equipment NZ. "Yacht Help's technical expertise with marine diesel systems, combined with their exceptional local knowledge and established facilities, means Yanmar owners can now access the support they need throughout Fiji's cruising grounds. It's a significant step forward for our network in a region that's becoming increasingly popular with international vessels."

Yanmar Powers Black Cat's Next Chapter

Black Cat Cruises has built a reputation as one of Canterbury's leading eco-tourism operators. Based in Akaroa, their fleet includes their newest addition, Black Pearl - a stunning 17m Teknicraft-designed catamaran powered by twin Yanmar 6CXBM-GT engines. Delivering 294 kW of reliable performance, Black Pearl carries 95 passengers between Diamond Harbour and Lyttelton. Built locally by Icon Custom Boats to meet surging demand – now exceeding 155,000 annual passengers – this vessel demonstrates how Yanmar's proven reliability supports Black Cat Cruises' commitment to efficient, comfortable harbour crossings.

Tony Whiting and Taranui: A Kiwi Yachting Legend’s Tale of Adventure and Innovation

Tony Whiting is a bona fide Kiwi yachting icon. We sat down with Tony to discuss his pride and joy, Taranui—a boat he originally built for an American client in 1974 and later purchased in 2007. Taranui has circumnavigated the globe and tackled some pretty "hairy" seas in New Zealand waters as well. The original Yanmar engine powered an impressive 30,000 nautical miles of South Pacific sailing, but Tony recently replaced this workhorse with a brand-new Yanmar 4JH110.
