Explore Group is one of New Zealand’s most well-recognised tourism brands. Starting with one America’s Cup yacht based in Auckland in 2001, Explore Group has expanded to become a multi-region, multi-product operation.
The company offers a diverse range of experiences, from sailing and diving to dinner cruises, each designed to showcase its specific location. Operations span Auckland and the Bay of Islands in New Zealand, as well as Hamilton Island and Airlie Beach in Queensland, Australia.
The Explore Group fleet includes a wide range of vessels in different sizes and styles, from sailing yachts and powerboats, up to 24 metre passenger ferries. As you might imagine, reliability is an absolute must when running a large marine operation like this.
Power Equipment has worked closely with Explore Group since 2012, providing Yanmar commercial marine power solutions across the fleet. This includes analysing the usage requirements of the Explore vessels requiring a repower, and then customising engine packages to suit that vessel’s specific operation.
We caught up with Will Goodfellow, General Manager of Explore Group, to see why Yanmar is Explore Group’s first choice for marine power.
